Legitimate Home Based Businesses

A legitimate home based business is one that provides something of value to the customer. There’s nothing wrong with making money from home, but if making money from home is all about making money and not about providing value to the customer then I’m not interested. I have seen many ways to make money from home. Some of them were legitimate home based businesses and some weren’t. Some companies are only interested in signing people up as new distributors. But if that is the only way to acquire new customers then everyone who is buying is also selling. Some companies require people to sign up with the company as agents to get the best price on their product. Doesn’t that tell the customer that the company values the representative more than the customer? If a company has customers but no agents they can make money. But a company with a lot of representatives and no customers will go out of business. The customers have to be a priority. Customer satisfaction is important to the future of any company. Think Outside the Box

There is an arrow here. Can you see it? The Federal Express (FedEx) people thought it was clever (and I agree) to incorporate an arrow into their logo. This arrow indicates they are always moving forward. Can you see the arrow yet? Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. It’s a paradigm shift. Some people can see what others miss simply because they look at things differently. Think about a common New Year’s resolution for example, to get out of debt. Many people would like to get out of debt. But as the saying goes, if you always do what you’ve always done you will always get what you’ve always gotten. Boy, my English teacher would cringe at that sentence structure.

Truth in Lending and Spelling

The Truth in Lending law in the United States was passed by Congress in 1968 to protect us. Hard to believe, I know, but the lenders didn’t really want us to understand what it costs us to borrow money. Not that they are trying to scam you, they just want to keep you in the dark. Fico scores have been around for decades too but it took an act of Congress to give you and me access to that information. (By the way, you may want to check your score at myfico.com. It may have gone down this past month even if you did everything right.) The lenders had to be forced to tell us what it was really going to cost us to borrow their money. What sane person, after all, would pay over $220,000 for a $100,000 house? OK, so you can afford the payment, so what? Do you really want that payment for 30 years? Or would you like to pay it off sooner? The truth in lending law was a great start but your education is just beginning. Learn more from United First Financial.

On a lighter note, this is what I call, “Truth in Spelling.” Lisa home schools our kids and she asked Michaella to write her spelling words. This is the paper she turned in.
