As they say in Chicago, “Don’t forget to vote; and vote often.” They have cracked down on that since the 1920′s or when ever that saying got started. But I thought of it today. Lisa and I voted today and we brought our four kids with us, armed with coloring books and a small Thomas Train to pass the time. They had a table set up in the large voting room which was perfect for the kids to color at. At the end I handed in my ballot card and as usual they had stickers. I was offered one for each of the kids which I thought was nice. But then it occurred to me that if the kids got stickers that say they voted it would be a lie unless they really did get to vote. So I asked for ballots for each of the kids. Fortunately they knew I was joking and didn’t throw me in jail for attempted election fraud. Someday the kids will vote. They are already learning about it. Hopefully you voted today too. Let your voice be heard. Every vote counts. Once. I know someone who thought her vote should count more than once because she was so important. Not so. We are all equal. Unless we don’t vote. If you don’t vote, you don’t have a voice in our government. And if you don’t vote you have no right to complain when “they” do something you don’t like. Vote. Your future depends on it.

Are you fed up with our government? Do you want to see change? Do you want your voice heard? There are a lot of positions in government that are elected by the people. And there are many ways to do what you can to improve your community. Your chances of becoming President are slim to none, but you have opportunities right in your own community to help direct the country in the way you think it should go. One way to become involved in government is to become a township trustee.

What does a Rootstown Township trustee do? Why do we need them? There are many “little” but important decisions to be made that effect our everyday lives in ways we might not ever think about. Take a look at the Rootstown Township web site to see all that goes on “behind the scenes”. It’s a big responsibility. It’s not something that just anyone can or should do. Think carefully about who you vote for.

Based on his integrity, education, and experience I am voting for Brett Housley for Rootstown Township Trustee. Please consider joining me.

If you live in the Ravenna or Rootstown area of Ohio and you need an auto body shop please take note of this.

We were running low on food in the house so I went to Giant Eagle to get something for dinner. This was around 6:15 PM or so. I got about 100 feet away from my drive way and the car made a horrible noise and I came to an abrupt stop. I new it was not an engine problem; I figured my right front tire blew out. As I looked at the car from the front I noticed something disturbing. The left tire was pointing left. The right tire was pointing right. This doesn’t usually happen.

The bracket that keeps the tires properly aligned had rusted through. As I looked at it I figured it was a simple job to weld a new bracket in place and replace a small part or two. I also figured if I took it to a dealer or just about anywhere they would say I needed $500 – $800 of work on it.

As Murphy’s Law predicted, my AAA membership ran out last month and I didn’t renew it. Oops. Fortunately my father-in-law let me use his. As the tow truck was approaching, a car pulls up with two guys who look very interested in the situation. They check out my car and within a few minutes it was being towed to Morgan’s Auto Service & Gas Tank. Shane, the owner, had been one of the two men who stopped. (What are the odds of that?) After talking with him briefly I completely trusted his judgment. He said (what I thought) that a simple bracket (that he custom made) could be welded in place to fix the problem.

This was around 6:45. Just before 10:00 PM the same night I got my car back. The work looks great, my car runs, I am very happy. $150 well spent. Shane’s business card says “Quality Service At A Fair Price”. I completely agree.

Morgan’s Auto Service & Gas Tank 330-297-6890

A special thank you to his family who lets him work late.

As Lisa and I got ready for bed, we found this in the living room. (Cute, Caleb.)

A friend of mine is starting a new ministry called Turning Point Ministries. (Yes, there already is one by that name, but when God tells you what to call it you just do what He says, right?) Among the many services that will focus on meeting people’s needs is the ministry of counseling. I’m sure my friend is well qualified and will take a different approach than the one you are about to see. This video is a humorous look at what counseling should not be.
